West knows South is dog walking. Does not know which minor partner has so 4nt is indicated. A double here should be more than clubs—a warning that he has their suits.

The double of 31c was absurd. This must surely be looking for money from 3–the double of 3 showed decent defence. I am somewhat curious about the 3 bbid. West's pass of the double is unbelievable.

Such a method has merit especially if you have a decent 5431.

If you are playing money bridge then 21S is best with both majors since you will get to play the hand. On a more serious note the meaning of 4 is dependent on your methods. For example if you can transfer and bid 3 r 3 t show 5-4 then 4 is a cue bid.

There is little to be gained by bidding on total crap–one reason is a bad lead from partner. I think you need enough to expect they cannot make 3nt. one neglected area is where 1nt gets back to opener. I prefer to use double t suggest a higher ranking suit than the one opened.

The only pair who have great success opening on garbage is in my view Meckwell but I have no objection to the mini no-trump opening. Without that most flat 11 count openings in first two seats lose points.

i was doing a bridge weekend with Reese and he was asked which major to bid first with both. He gave a pretty lengthy reply an later I asked him about and he replied–well I could hardly say who the hell cares. There can be systemic arrangements that determine the answer. I would not play a system where the meaning is ambiguous.

I would not open with less than the actual hand so I must abstain.

I have a question if he saw the revoke is it permissible as dummy to try and correct it at the time rather than afterwards? As s player I am not allowed to make rulings,

I am still amazed that anyone would challenge the claim. Maybe they miscounted.

After the lead 13 tricks are obvious–n idea what all the fuss is about, might be looking for new partner not a ruling.

Maybe it is reasonable to get clubs right?

I would add that if partner bids 3 then 4 shows this hand type in my view.

The choice of 4 excludes a spade contract and a penalty pass–so whats awfuL? 4 is very second rate.

tight passes lead to panicky defence all too often. Bidding 4 r even 5 is clear cut here in my view. The double of 3 seems fine it caters for a real penalty pass.
