Yeah, this stinks (also directly affected). That's not a cheap trip to foot most of the bill for, unfortunately. And I'd love to go if it made sense.

Haha, thanks for the endorsement. That's not always a good thing sometimes but I do appreciate the sentiment.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for reaching out. I actually already found a pair over a month ago (forgot to update this post, sorry), but if they (or you and Freerk) are open to a 6-man team, we might be able to set that up. Thanks!

Another fellow (soon to be former) Junior here who would go for the earlier start times if there was a choice. A day job has made me “old” pretty quickly :)

Speedballs definitely shouldn't be introduced into this study. The fields improve (I have to bite my tongue because for the most part, it's a cess pool) throughout the day as they increase in size, so it's not a fair comparison to begin with. Then, you have to add in the fact that BBO isn't real Bridge, in the least.

I was unable to see the final product in Vegas but I did see their first edition in Atlanta last summer (which I heard was greatly edited into what the final product became). The one point that really bugs me is the supposed implication that you can't juggle a full-time job with being a successful Bridge player. Some of the game's best players do exactly that or did exactly that before retiring. I'm not in the same class of those players, but I haven't had any issues with balancing work and Bridge at all. You just need to be in the right situation and then it's pretty easy.

I'm also someone who's happy to potentially have another shot as I'm 25 and am unable to play in U26 anymore. Please don't blow these 3 chances, Beans.

Nothing to add to the discussion here, but can we stop using LeBron as the metric for leaving for a better situation? The fact that he stayed with the lifeless Cleveland Cavaliers as long as he did is pretty incredible considering what they look like the second he leaves their team. If you're going to throw a basketball player under the bus for those types of moves, use KD. He left a team that should have beat the Warriors for…the Warriors!

Twitch is an online community whose main aim is to provide a platform for people to stream themselves playing video games. The most popular streamers will have thousands of people watching them whenever they're online. Bridge has a very small following on there, but it's definitely enjoyable to either watch others play/commentate or do it yourself (as I like to do).

Thanks for the shoutout, Will. It'll be difficult for me to cover the championships with the time difference (and the fact that I work so I don't stay up late at night), but I'll definitely do what I can.

Haha Dave, I don't enforce those standards as long as it's a good time :)

It doesn't necessarily have to be a 4-session MP event, but I think a 4-session event there open to all in that timeslot (right now, only the Women's Pairs and the Senior Swiss exist, neither of which I'm eligible for) would be nice.

No qualms with the location or venue for Vegas, it was very good. However, I still am not a fan of the schedule for pairs games in the Summer NABC. After the LM Pairs over the first weekend, there's no pairs event until the Wernhers on Wednesday, relegating people who want to play this event (and are not a part of a Spingold team) to Open Pairs action for two days. The other NABCs don't seem to have this issue (Fall has 10K IMPs one day later or the Mitchell BAM, while Spring has IMP Pairs on the 3rd day of the Plats). Thoughts on potential schedule revisions in the future?

This is a tough situation (luckily, didn't have to make it at my table because they bid 4H and now 4S was an auto call). I probably would have been a 3S bidder had it been a 3H or fit jump bid, so not sure if my partner is raising or not.

I appreciate being included in the group of “rising talent”, Jacob. If this becomes a reality, I want everyone to know that I am a strong teammate on account of not drinking (although, if that becomes a handicap, I suddenly become an anchor for a team). Any system restrictions? Seems like we need those too.

I emailed James today based on the email on his Twitter account to see if he'd be at the Vegas NABC. First off, the fact that he responded within an hour is pretty incredible considering that he must have media requests out the wazoo. Anyways, he'll be there (as expected) and the ACBL has reached out to him about speak at the YNABC as well as the Collegiates. I'm sure he'll accept, which is a great way to make this a trip to remember for those playing.

Yeah, we didn't do too well when we defended 3S while being cold for 5D. But always a fun match against Dave and Anne regardless of outcome!

Very bizarre that this is different from Live. But seeing as I'm getting way more MPs here, I'm not necessarily complaining.

Florida has not done the best job of providing a convenient location for the GNTs in recent years. This year, it was West Palm Beach, which is on the East Coast and isn't super far from South Florida either. What people fail to realize is that Florida's a pretty big state from North to South and even from East to West (where I and the Tampa/Clearwater contingent live). I think next year, it's going to be in Orlando, which is a pretty convenient location for everywhere as it's rather central. They changed the NAPs to Orlando and the turnout was much better.
