about me

Believer in Paul Marston's and Lukasz Slawinski's ideologies. My hobby is playing against HUMs (high five to all HUM players). Love to play various systems after reading full system notes.

Favorite Quote from Paul Marston from his Moscito 2005 write-up

"If you don’t want to play bridge like this, you don’t belong in open competition. One day a leader with vision and courage will come along and he or she will tear down all this senseless red tape. No more mid chart, no more brown sticker, no more green systems, no more HUM systems, etc – just bridge. Thegame will flourish and we will remember these red tape days in much the same way that we remember Communism. Maybe that’s a bit tongue in cheek but I long for the time when we can try to solve the bridge puzzle with only the laws of the game to concern us. Sadly, I am not holding my breath. Right now there is little resistance to the WBF/ ACBL line. This is because most players are happy to choose their methods from the official list. The mood will only change when a high profile body of players decides to strive for something better."

Third-suit bids
It depends on the 2 way reverse flannery structure. Our structure allows 5=4, 5=5 and 6=5 distributions, and with constructive (2H reply to 1m) and invitational hands (2S reply to 1m). In that case, (1) becomes GF. Regarding the bidding in the posted thread, 1m-1M-1NT/2m-2OM for ...
Third-suit bids
Playing constructive and invitational reverse flannery, 1 and 3 are artificial and game-forcing, 2 is natural and game-forcing.

Where's the freedom of expression in 2019?
I did mention team games and KOs. What about the open unrestricted category 1 games? Do you feel the regulations are very different?
Where's the freedom of expression in 2019?
Ryerson, What I (or fellow bridge players like me) would like to see is parity between ACBL Open+ chart and the WBF chart for team games and KOs (atleast). In category 1 games, there is no need for any restrictions. Once vugraphs start to show it, people would surely embrace ...
Open letter to Robb Gordon
If confusing the opponents with adequate disclosure can result in desired number of good boards, that is also part of good bridge.
Open letter to Robb Gordon
Having a WBF like convention card with supplemental notes should be able to solve all this.
Is this a way to run an organization?
There are a ton of bridge players who would be very happy to compete in the top-most category, but cannot do so because of the ACBL regulations for low MP holders. I (as a junior player) tried to play in Life Master Pairs in the July Nationals in 2018, with ...
Is this a way to run an organization?
In ACBL, according to my understanding, experience only means winning a big event, which I don't have. But again, is a LM supposed to have a big event win in ACBL land? Also, I never had affiliation to other bridge organizations, even though I played in one of those ...
Is this a way to run an organization?
Sorry may not have been the right thread to post my above comment then. However that just means if we take the Las Vegas NABC into consideration, the only NABC+ event that I (with 400 MP) can play with my regular partner(with 5400 ACBL) will be the Wernher Open ...
